About us
After the coup in 2021, Myanmar was left in ruins, affecting the sphere of journalism and the fundamental right to free speech. From these challenging times, The Roots, our collective of dedicated photographers emerged.We include photojournalists, documentary photographers, and individuals capturing Myanmar's essence in various forms. We mentor others in news and documentary photography, preserving our history through imagery.
The Roots consists of five skilled photographers from Myanmar, with experience in local and international organizations. Currently in exile, we cannot disclose our names or identities yet. We appreciate your understanding, and hope to reveal our identities soon.Thank you for your support.
